Oh what I wouldn t give to have been a fly on the wall during this luncheon. Here is Heidi Montag having lunch with Meghan McCain, who is none other than the daughter of Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain. And yes, Heidi is boring as usual with her straight blonde locks that never change. Meghan of course does not have the most inspiring hairstyle, but when your dad is running for President of the United States, fading into the background is much more requisite than standing out amongst the crowd. One would think that if you are somewhat of a starlet and are going to be seen with the daughter of a Presidential candidate you might make more of an effort. Go-Jamaica hosts marketing seminar on power of the Internet

Put the power of the Internet to work in your business” was the slogan used in The Gleaner Online’s third annual Internet marketing seminar, held at the newspaper’s North Street central Kingston offices yesterday.

Dr Felix Akinladejo, lecturer of Internet marketing at the University of Technology (UTech), as well as managers, students, entrepreneurs, representatives from advertising agencies and marketing consultants, were in attendance.

“Internet marketing is the field of marketing or advertising a business on the World Wide Web. Because the Internet is so dynamic and is always changing, it is important that you keep up to date with the developments and designs that will enhance your web presence,” said Hope McMillan, project manager of The Gleaner Online and seminar presenter.

Participants for the over-subscribed seminar discussed an array of Internet marketing issues around how to expand your online reach and how the Internet can work for your business.

Marketing solution

The Gleaner Online team took the time to walk participants through various types of Internet marketing solutions, in particular, ad formats and properly utilising websites.

Based on a survey conducted after the seminar, the attendees expressed satisfaction with the venue, the information given, the length and way the information was presented and the level of interaction between the presenter and the audience.

“I’m sorry I came so late. The information was good and it cleared up many areas of concern,” said one individual.

The Gleaner Online’s Internet Marketing Seminar 2008, was considered by all a huge success.

Because of the large number of registrants, some could not be accommodated. However, another seminar of this nature will be held soon.

J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. says it will modify the terms of $70 billion in troubled, mostly adjustable-rate mortgages it holds.

The New York bank inherited many of the loans as part of its September purchase of a failed competitor, Washington Mutual Inc. (NYSE:WM), and its move will cover as many as 400,000 borrowers. J.P. Morgan said Friday the borrowers will be moved into loans carrying lower interest rates, smaller principal amounts or other more-affordable terms, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The move came shortly after the bank received a $25 billion capital infusion from the U.S. Treasury’s program to strengthen financial institutions and get credit flowing.

“Our goal in doing this was to come up with something that we think will lead the industry in helping as much as possible on this issue,” said J.P. Morgan executive Charles Scharf.

John Taylor, chief executive of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, said the action was “a gutsy move on their part. They are bending over backward to try to reach out to these people.”
